Popular social media critic, VeryDarkMan, has finally spoken out following concerns raised by his elder brother over his sudden absence from social media.

Two days after he went silent online, his brother, Mark Otse, took to Instagram on Sunday morning to plead with Nigerians to pray for him. In an emotional video, Mark expressed concern and confusion about his brother’s state, saying, “It’s difficult to explain what is going on.”

Mark said, “Good morning everyone. I am not here to say much. All I want you to do is to pray for VeryDarkMan. He has not posted for two days now. You all have been asking questions like ‘Where is VeryDarkMan?’ The truth is, I don’t know how to say this right now. This is so difficult, for real.”

His plea quickly stirred widespread concern, with fans and followers expressing worry over the outspoken critic’s well-being.

However, breaking his silence, VeryDarkMan explained the reason behind his absence. In a post shared online, he revealed that the ongoing violence between herders and farmers across Nigeria has left him mentally and emotionally drained.

“I really wish everyone could understand. I haven’t been able to post in the last few hours because my mind is still messed up. The killings involving herdsmen and farmers are just too much. For the past five days, I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve been asking questions, doing research, trying to understand what the real problem is — and it’s been overwhelming,” he wrote.

He reflected on the long history of violence in places like Benue and Plateau states, noting that the patterns remain unchanged over the years.

These killings didn’t start today. The Benue and Jos killings go back 10 to 15 years. Same method, same reactions — protests, visits from security chiefs — and yet, nothing changes. The question is no longer ‘when will it stop?’ but ‘how will it stop?’ What is the government getting wrong?”

Concluding his message, he said, “My mind is filled with thoughts I can’t even explain. Anyway, let me not ruin your Sunday with my worries. Happy Sunday, my people.”
