Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie has voiced deep frustration over Nigeria’s escalating cost of living, spotlighting the unreliable electricity supply as a major burden on citizens.

In a recent interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), the respected thespian revealed that he spends ₦40,000 daily just to maintain power in his household.

Breaking down the expenses, Edochie explained: “I pay ₦10,000 for light every day in my house. Then I spend additional ₦30,000; ₦20,000 for diesel, ₦10,000 for fuel. On the whole, I spend forty thousand every single day on light. It disturbs me a lot.”

He lamented that this situation mirrors the hardships endured by the average Nigerian, questioning who truly advocates for the common man amid persistent power outages and soaring expenses. The veteran actor emphasized how the chronic electricity crisis forces many to rely heavily on generators, inflating daily living costs dramatically.

Edochie’s candid remarks have sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians echoing his concerns about the economic pressures, including fuel prices, inflation, and inadequate infrastructure.
