
Wasiu Ayinde Marshal KWAM 1, a renowned musician, has formally declared his interest in the vacant Awujale of Ijebu land chieftaincy title.
In a letter dated December 3, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Agunsebi Quarters, Ayinde expressed his intention to be considered for the royal stool.
The letter reads: “I Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe MON, hereby formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebula d, subject strictly to the provisions of Ijebu customary law and the Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.”

According to the letter, Ayinde, who was born on March 3, 1957, is a bonafide son of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and traces his ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage.
He highlighted his contributions to the promotion of Ijebu, Yoruba, and Nigerian culture through music and cultural enterprise, which have earned him various traditional and national honors. “I have devoted five decades to the promotion of Ijebu, Yoruba and Nigerian culture through music and cultural enterprise.”

Some of the notable honors mentioned include his installation as Mayegun of Yorubaland in 2020 and the national honor of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) in 2022 from late President Muhammadu Buhari. Additionally, he was conferred with the title of Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile Ijebu in 2023 by the late Abujale.
The Fuji icon’s latest interest, has got netizens talking with many awaiting the outcome of his bid for the prestigious chieftaincy title.
