Popular Nigerian actress and activist Kehinde Bankole has used Children’s Day to draw attention to the ongoing crisis of child abductions and insecurity in Nigeria.
In a passionate statement shared on her social media, Bankole expressed deep concern that the nation cannot genuinely celebrate Children’s Day while children both young and old continue to be victims of abduction and violence. She referenced the infamous Chibok Girls abduction, noting that she had even participated in a theatre production highlighting their stories, yet similar incidents persist.
“We cannot say Happy Children’s Day if consistently the children continue to get taken,” she wrote. “Here we are again, Children’s Day without all the children being safe and protected.”

She emphasized that protecting children must remain a top national agenda, vowing that voices like hers will not stay silent. “We will keep asking, we will not be quiet,” she added.
The actress’s post caught the attention of netizens who also shared their frustration over repeated security failures.
