What Were Her Mistakes? -TG Omori Challenges Health Stigma Following Emotional ICU Experience

Renowned Nigerian music video director, TG Omori, has sparked a poignant conversation regarding the empathy or lack thereof shown towards individuals facing severe health crises.

The visual genius, who has recently been open about his own medical struggles, took to social media to challenge the common tendency of the public to blame victims for their physiological misfortunes.

Omori, who disclosed these reflections following a harrowing stint in intensive care, explained that witnessing the suffering of the innocent changed his perspective on the “lifestyle blame game.”

He noted that society is often too eager to attribute illness to poor choices, overlooking the harsh reality of genetic lottery and unforeseen medical tragedies.

Everyone is quick to blame people for their health issues. Beside me back in the ICU was a 7-year-old girl with almost three failed organs fighting for her life. What could possibly be her mistakes?” he questioned.

The director’s remarks highlight a growing concern over “health shaming,” where individuals suffering from organ failure or chronic conditions are met with scrutiny rather than support. By highlighting the plight of the young girl, Omori illustrated that many health battles are fought by those who have done nothing to “earn” their condition.

He further urged his followers and the general public to lead with compassion rather than judgement. According to him, seeing a child in such a critical state served as a sobering reminder that health is fragile and not always within a person’s direct control.
