Nigerian gospel music legend, Yinka Ayefele, has moved his fans to tears with a heartfelt video in which his triplets – two boys, Richard and Raymond, and their sister – innocently questioned him about why he cannot walk.
In the emotional clip, the singer shared online, one of the boys, Richard, looked at his father and asked, “Daddy, why can’t you walk?” The singer, taken by surprise replied, “I had an accident.” Not satisfied, Richard pressed further asking: “When did the accident happen?”

“It was a very long time ago,” Ayefele answered softly. “December 12, 1997.” Calling his second son Raymond to ask what question he had for him. Raymond who also wondered why their father couldn’t walk or stand, asked the same question and Ayefele gave him the same answer.
Richard who wanted to know more details about the accident that confined their father to a wheelchair asked again; “How did the accident happen? Did a bicycle hit your car?”
Smiling through the emotion, Ayefele explained: “No, I was the one driving. The road was slippery, the car somersaulted six times and landed in a bush pit.”
He then used the moment to address his children’s frequent pleas for him to stand and exercise, saying: “You know you always ask me to stand up, to do exercise… that is the reason I can’t walk. But I believe I will walk again. I believe one day, I will walk again.”
Many commenters joined their faith with the musician’s, declaring that his healing and ability to walk again is already settled. Others praised him for his strength, positivity, and the beautiful family he has built despite the challenges.
Yinka Ayefele suffered a spinal cord injury in the 1997 accident, which left him paralysed from the waist down. Not giving up on himself, he has turned the tragedy into triumph, rising to become one of Nigeria’s most celebrated gospel artists with multiple awards and a successful media empire.
