Comedian and reality TV star Aderombi Adedayo, popularly known as DeeOne, has spoken openly about his past relationship with celebrity fashion designer Veekee James.
Responding to a recent comment made by the designer, DeeOne revealed that they were briefly involved after he exited Big Brother in 2018. According to him, although Veekee was “sweet and correct,” he chose to walk away because he felt overly controlled.
“A lot of people don’t know that when I came out of Big Brother in 2018, Ruth (Veekee James) and I had something together. She was a sweet and correct babe, but I don’t like people controlling me,” he said.
“All these things I’m saying, even her husband, Mr James, knows, including some people in the industry.”
The former BBNaija housemate explained that during their relationship, Veekee often sent him on multiple errands while working, which he found overwhelming.

“When I was her boyfriend, she was always sending me errands. She’d be sewing and at the same time sending me different things to do. I don’t know, maybe she’s still angry with me because of what she said on the podcast. But if I’ve done anything to offend you, I’m sorry.”
This comes after Veekee James appeared on a recent episode of Unfiltered and Extra Spicy with Ify’s Kitchen, where she was asked which celebrity she thought might get arrested before the end of the year, with options including Portable, DeeOne, and Lizzy Anjorin.
Veekee immediately ruled out Portable jokingly, saying, “I cannot call Portable’s name, oo. God abeg,” while laughing.
Addressing DeeOne, she dismissed him as unserious:
“If you’re a smart person, you’d know you cannot take him seriously. If you do, then you’re either jobless or there’s a problem,” she said.
“There are people who make videos talking about things that are not their business, you can tell they’re just bored and want to have fun. I’ve really not seen him say anything serious. He has talked about me before, and I knew he wasn’t serious, so he’s out of the equation.”
