Queen Mercy Atang, a former Big Brother Naija Housemate, has clarified why she unfollowed her husband, David Oyekanmi, on Instagram and deleted their wedding photos.
The reality TV star had deleted her husband’s photos in October 2024, fueling rumours of a marital crisis.
In a video shared online, the Queen stated that the move was made to keep her marriage private and off social media, citing the numerous messages her husband receives from other women on his Instagram direct messages.
She said, “I was just trying to take my relationship off social media. Because my husband’s account is out there, a lot of girls feel the need to slide in his DM to say positive and negative things.”

The couple got engaged in February, and tied the knot traditionally in Queen’s hometown in Akwa Ibom state in March 2024.
The couple held their court wedding thereafter at the Ikoyi registry, Lagos.

To mark their first anniversary, the couple posted a video of themselves strolling through the streets, wrapped up in winter coats. Mercy is draped in a plush fur jacket and boots, while David looks sharp in a long coat. They dance, kiss, and hold hands, fully lost in their own little world.
The post reads: “One year down, forever to go! Today marks one year of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments together. This past year has been a beautiful, eventful, and sometimes challenging journey, growing side by side, learning from each other, overcoming obstacles, and building a life rooted in love and trust.
