Iyabo Ojo, the Nollywood actress has revealed that she was initially reluctant to throw a baby shower for her daughter, Priscilla Ojo.
Speaking during the event held on Sunday, Iyabo explained that she had reservations due to the lavish celebrations they had already held earlier in the year, including Priscilla’s wedding festivities that began as far back as February. She also expressed concerns about attracting unnecessary attention and drama on social media.
According to the actress, it was her colleague and close friend, actress Lola Alao, who suggested the idea of a baby shower. Out of deep respect for Alao, she agreed, despite her earlier hesitation.
“I remember when Aunty Lola told me we would do a baby shower for her. I said okay, we’ve been doing so much for her. Since February, the wedding was so long. But Aunty Lola is that special Aunty I can never say no to,” Iyabo recounted during her speech.
She added that although she wanted to avoid social media controversy, she came to the realisation that God’s blessings are not meant to be hidden.

“This pregnancy is God’s blessing, and God’s blessing cannot be hidden,” she said. “Priscy, live your life without fear because God is with you. Whoever wishes evil for another person’s child will be the one to experience it.”
Iyabo, who has been vocal about various social justice issues in the past, also used the moment to reaffirm her stance on standing up for the vulnerable. She stated that any negative plots against her would not succeed, so long as her intentions remain pure.
“For every justice I have fought, for the molested girl, for the boy who died, for the one bullied, if I did it without personal gain, then no evil formed against me shall prosper,” she declared.
The baby shower marked yet another milestone for Priscilla, who continues to receive overwhelming support from her mother and their circle of loved ones.
