Why I Left my Marriage – Uche Ogbodo Finally Breaks Silence

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has taken to social media to declare that she is tired of her marriage and describes her husband, Bobby Marris, as a “princess.”

The mother of four made the statement a day after sharing a series of posts on surviving a narcissistic relationship, fueling speculation about possible challenges in her marriage.

In an Instagram post titled “101 on How to Survive a Narcissist!”, Ogbodo outlined four strategies she believes can help people deal with narcissistic partners.

The first advises setting consequences when boundaries are violated without feeling the need to overexplain. The second encourages “unpredictable detachment,” which involves withdrawing emotionally to avoid feeding a narcissist’s ego.

Her third point urges people to stop overfunctioning in relationships and become “useless to their exploitation” by limiting the free labour, money, and effort they provide. The fourth stresses refusing to be manipulated by guilt, particularly through statements such as, “After everything I have done for you.”

In a follow-up post, the actress, on Wednesday morning, expressed frustration with societal expectations placed on women in marriage, stating that she no longer wants to remain married.

“Why is it a taboo for a woman to get tired of marriage? Must it always be the man who gets tired first? My tired is tired,” she wrote.

Ogbodo went on to describe her husband as a “princess” and suggested that, for a married woman in Nigeria, happiness often depends on having the right connections and support system.
