American rapper, singer and songwriter, Nicki Minaj has opened up about her growing involvement in politics, particularly her strong support for Donald Trump and conservative causes.
In interviews, including on The Katie Miller Podcast and at events like Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest, the Trinidad born rapper, explained that her draw to politics stems from personal empathy and frustration rather than specific policies alone.

Minaj revealed that witnessing the intense bullying, smear campaigns, and lies directed at Trump during his 2024 election campaign deeply resonated with her.
She described feeling that she “could not handle it” because she had endured similar treatment like constant attacks, misinformation, and being “pushed around” for many years in her own career and public life.

Minaj noted that watching it happen “in real time” to someone else, whom she believed didn’t deserve it, became a turning point as the experience of unfair criticism motivated her to speak out and refuse to stay silent anymore.
She also mentioned a lifelong sense of having a “second job” beyond music, a feeling that politics might be her “next calling.”

Minaj emphasised values like religious freedom as important to her, but honesty pointed to her empathy for Trump’s treatment as the primary trigger. She has since declared herself Trump’s “number one fan,” stating that criticism only motivates her support more, and she won’t “back down ever again.”
