Popular Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola has been admitted in the hospital following heavy criticism from fans and social media users.
The actress, who is well known for her vibrant roles in Yoruba movies, has been trending online for the past few days after her clash with fellow actor and director, Afeez Owo.
Afeez Owo, who is married to actress Mide Martins, had granted an interview recently where he spoke about Wumi Toriola’s style of acting and the kind of characters she usually portrays in movies. His comments did not sit well with Wumi, who felt he had painted her in a negative light.

In reaction, Wumi took to the Internet to drag the veteran actor, expressing her displeasure openly. Her outburst quickly went viral and attracted several mixed reactions from movie lovers and the general public.
While some people supported her, many Nigerians criticised Wumi for calling out Afeez Owo, saying that the actor only shared his honest opinion and did not deserve the attack.
Amid the online dragging, Wumi on Thursday morning revealed that she had been hospitalised. She shared a photo of herself lying on a hospital bed, confirming that the stress from the negative reactions had taken a toll on her health.
In the post, the actress wrote: “Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.”
In another post, she thanked netizens for their concern, saying she had learnt her lesson from the incident. She admitted that she would handle situations differently going forward.
She wrote: “I have heard you all, will do better next time. Wish me quick recovery.”
