A Nigerian socialite, Yhemolee, has mentioned that beggars who have been dubbed ‘Almajiris’ have found a way to solicit funds via social media.
In a recent social media post, Yhemolee noted that social media has become a breeding ground for individuals seeking financial assistance.
According to the actor, the issue lies with those who have mastered the art of begging, often soliciting money from people they barely know.
He noted that the only distinction between beggars online and those on the streets is access to internet data.
“It’s no longer news that social media isn’t social media anymore. It’s now a begging site. The only difference is that, unlike the beggars on the road, the beggars on the internet have data.

“These days, when you post a picture, the first ten comments are account numbers. My major problem is those who have a PhD in begging. Please omit all those begging from my own picture,” he said.
Yhemolee came to the limelight after the hit song “Mon Cheri” featuring Chinko Ekun and Asake, as well as his roles in Nollywood films like “Gangs of Lagos” and “Alakada: Bad and Boujee”.
