Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Uriel Oputa, has spoken out strongly against the way people, especially in Nigeria, judge women over their decisions about childbirth and motherhood.
In a long emotional post on her Instagram page, Uriel expressed sadness over how society turns women’s private matters into public gossip.
She said it is painful that many, including fellow women, criticize those who choose to have children naturally, through surrogacy, or by IVF.
According to the reality star, no matter what a woman does, it never seems good enough for people. She noted that many forget that these women are real human beings with feelings, struggles, and personal battles that are not always visible to the public.

“So what if a woman brings a child into the world?” Uriel asked. “Instead of celebrating her, people begin to compare stories, saying things like, ‘When I was breastfeeding, I didn’t do this,’ or ‘Why didn’t she do that?’ Everyone’s story is different. Even siblings from the same parents are not the same.”
Uriel questioned why people feel the need to constantly analyze and talk about women’s lives, mentioning celebrities such as Toke Makinwa, Tiwa Savage, and Hilda Baci, who often face harsh criticism online.
“Are you them?” she asked boldly. “Everyone’s journey is different. Nigerians can really be shameless sometimes.”
In her caption, Uriel described it as heartbreaking to see people tear down women who bring life into the world. She said instead of spreading hate, people should focus on checking their own hearts.
“I hate seeing other women being pulled down,” she wrote. “It’s disgusting. Ask yourself why you’re not moving forward, it’s your heart. I’ll continue to defend Toke or whoever I wish.”
