Anita Joseph Olagunju the Nollywood actress, has come to the defense of Nigerian music star Davido amid criticisms surrounding his use of his father’s private jet.
Reacting to the backlash, the actress and social media influencer described the negative comments as nothing short of “witchcraft.” She argued that there is nothing wrong with the singer using his family’s resources, urging critics to stop projecting bitterness.

Anita questioned why anyone would be upset about Davido flying in a jet owned by his father, emphasizing that he has every right to enjoy his family’s wealth.

In a strongly-worded Instagram post, she wrote, “Davido dey fly him papa jet, una dey vex? This is pure witchcraft, I swear! Why are people like this? Let people live, jezzzz! You can’t be broke and still be a witch, that’s double suffering.”
Meanwhile, Deeone, popular Nigerian comedian has taken a swipe at Afrobeats superstar Davido for what he describes as the singer’s habit of “broke-shaming” critics on social media.
In a recent video making the rounds online, Deeone openly berated the award-winning artist for responding to criticism by labeling people as broke. According to the comedian, such reactions are beneath Davido’s status and show a lack of emotional maturity required for someone in his position
“As a celebrity, you’re not supposed to be responding to every message. You need to calm down. Is it that you’re not ready for stardom?” Deeone said.
Davido, known for his hit songs, philanthropic gestures, and larger-than-life personality, has often engaged with fans and critics alike on social media. However, his tendency to dismiss naysayers by calling them “broke” has sparked mixed reactions online.
While some fans find his clapbacks entertaining, others, including Deeone, believe they damage his brand and reflect a level of insecurity that should not be associated with someone of Davido’s global stature.
Deeone questioned why Davido, with all his success, continues to dignify every form of criticism with a harsh response, especially when the backlash comes from unknown or irrelevant users.
Deeone, who has also faced his share of public scrutiny as a celebrity, noted that fame comes with responsibility. He emphasized that successful entertainers must develop thick skin and learn to rise above online insults and negativity.
“The moment you become a star, people will talk. You cannot keep calling everyone broke just because they don’t agree with you or criticize your actions,” he added.
He warned that constantly reacting to online trolls could erode the respect and admiration Davido has built over the years, urging him to take a more composed and professional approach.
