Video-making and sharing app TikTok has banned the account of Emmanuel Obruste, the content creator popularly known as GehGeh, after footage of his traditional wedding surfaced on social media, sparking outrage among many Nigerians.
Eelive.ng understands that trouble started for the self-styled relationship and finance guru when he shared clips from the event on his X page on Saturday, showing himself and a lady dressed in coordinating burgundy native attire.
In the video, GehGeh rocked a flowing agbada, complete with black bead necklaces. Also, the invitation card shown in the post was dated July 26, with a start time of 11 am, and named Mary and Prosper as the couple.
In the caption accompanying the video, GehGeh wrote: “So I no fit represent my brother wey dey abroad?”.
The posts, which gained traction, drew backlash from followers and fellow influencers, many of whom expressed disappointment and accused GehGeh of deceiving them.
Critics pointed to his well-known online brand built largely on dishing out relationship advice to men, often with a sharp, critical edge toward women.
They argued that the wedding clips seemed to fly in the face of the very messages he had long preached against.
One user wrote: Tunde Perry, described GehGeh as “a dangerous person” who could not be trusted.
Another remarked: “I have listened to Geh Geh’s advice to the extent that right now, I don’t even have female friends or a girlfriend. Today, he pass wanna back go marry wow.”
One commented: “Geh Geh is reportedly now married after constantly belittling women and building a brand off female objectificatIon. People hyped up his bad behaviour, allowing him to influence their decisions, cash out on their gullibility, and even shape their mindsets. Congrats to him.”
However, quick checks show that the content creator’s TikTok account has been brought down after displeased fans mass-reported the account.

Following the growing criticism, GGehGeh had earlier defended himself, arguing that he had never explicitly advised anyone against marriage and urged his followers to be more discerning about how they consume online content.
“I never for once told y’all not to get married. Did I? If yes, show me a video of me telling you not to marry,” he wrote.
“Nigerians really don’t understand how social media works. If you know how to use it properly, you will never lack.”
