Jim Iyke, Nollywood actor has stirred reactions online after posting a lengthy and emotionally raw birthday message to fellow actress Kate Henshaw.
In a post that read more like a confessional than a traditional tribute, Iyke reflected on their shared past, speaking from the perspective of his younger self. He candidly revealed that he once had romantic feelings for Kate and felt she saw him only as a younger brother, despite his deeper intentions.
“She always looked out for me, giving me heads-up on auditions, slipping me money for food or transport,” he wrote. “Every time I looked into her beautiful eyes, she knew my thoughts were far from innocent.”
Iyke expressed regret that a deeper relationship never materialised between them, joking that they could have had a child in their twenties by now. He also spoke about the one time they shared intimacy, which happened during what he called the peak of his youthful wildness and restlessness. According to him, despite his good heart, he was overwhelmed by fame, external pressure, and bad influences at the time.

He further lamented that Henshaw eventually distanced herself from him and later married a foreigner, though he acknowledged that a beautiful child came from that union, which he celebrated.
In the post, Iyke also commented on Kate Henshaw’s lasting influence and appearance, saying that she has set a standard that many younger women struggle to meet.
“You’ve caused admiration, love, hate, anxiety, and even depression, your presence evokes the full spectrum of human emotion,” he wrote. “So many have tried everything under the sun to look like you, but you remain one of a kind. It’s a Kate Henshaw world.”
Despite the emotionally intense language, Iyke ended his message on a heartfelt note, calling Henshaw a phenomenal woman and “a force of nature.”
“This message may sound harsh, but that’s how we show love as Nigerians,” he explained. “Time and distance haven’t changed how I feel about you. You’re unforgettable.”
