A Nigerian lady working as a househelp in Egypt has stirred emotional reactions online after sharing a heartbreaking account of how her brother responded to her act of kindness.

According to her story, her brother reached out claiming his wife was seriously ill and required urgent medical attention. Moved by concern, she sent him ₦50,000 of her monthly income.

However, instead of expressing gratitude, her brother scolded her, saying he expected between ₦500,000 to ₦1 million simply because she was “working abroad.” This left the woman shocked and deeply hurt.

In her explanation, the lady revealed that despite being abroad, her life is far from glamorous. She works as a househelp in Egypt, earning around ₦230,000 monthly, and lives in extremely modest conditions sleeping in a kitchen while enduring long hours of work.

She emphasised that her earnings come with great sacrifice, and she had genuinely given what she could afford to help her brother’s family.

The lady story sheds light on a harsh reality many migrant workers face relatives back home often assume they are wealthy simply because they live overseas, without understanding the hardship they endure.
