Yvonne Jegede, the Nollywood actress has praised her senior colleague, Genevieve Nnaji, for being kind and welcoming to her many years ago on a movie set.
In a post shared on Instagram, Yvonne posted an old video clip showing a movie scene where she acted alongside Genevieve. She said the film was shot in 2007 and that Genevieve’s kindness and humility during the production left a lasting impression on her.
According to Yvonne, after finishing her scenes for the movie, she went straight from the set to the airport to travel abroad for further studies. That trip marked the beginning of a five-year break from Nollywood.

She explained that she was in such a rush that she nearly missed her flight.
Her words: “This matter long ooo, see what someone sent to me. In 2007, from this movie set, I left straight to the airport and left Nollywood for 5 years to go study. I even almost missed my flight. Truthfully, this movie is why I always adore Genevieve. She was too kind and sweet to me on this project, very warm and pleasant… If you know the name of this movie, please indicate because myself don’t remember.”
Yvonne’s message touched many of her fans, who joined her in praising Genevieve Nnaji. One of those who reacted was Nicole, the wife of popular Nigerian musician Naeto C. She also expressed deep respect and admiration for the veteran actress.
Genevieve Nnaji is one of the most respected names in Nollywood. She began her acting career as a teenager and has remained a key figure in the industry for over two decades. Known for her calm personality, elegance, and talent, Genevieve made history in 2018 when her directorial debut, Lionheart, became the first Nigerian movie to be acquired by global streaming platform Netflix.
She is also widely seen as a role model for young actresses in Nigeria and across Africa. Over the years, Genevieve has received several awards and honours for her contribution to the growth of Nollywood, including recognition at international film festivals.
