Actor Zack Orji faced criticism on social media after joining a solidarity rally in Abuja to support President Bola Tinubu. At the event, supporters, including Nollywood stars, praised the government’s work on infrastructure and security and called for tougher measures against kidnappings.
The Re-elect Tinubu For Inclusive Nigeria movement organised the rally with the slogan, “Relax, Tinubu Is Fixing Nigeria.” Before the rally, a medical outreach program provided free consultations, treatment, and medicine to residents, especially those with low incomes.
Orji, the movement’s Deputy Director General, spoke to journalists at the event. He encouraged Nigerians to back President Tinubu’s reform plans before the 2027 elections.
The event happened while there were still security concerns, including recent abductions in Oyo and Borno states. People are also feeling the effects of inflation and the higher cost of living.
On social media, people soon focused on Orji’s appearance at the march. Videos and photos showed him walking slowly and appearing weak, prompting many reactions on X.
Some users wondered why entertainers were part of the rally, especially with the current economic problems.
One user, identified as @AdenolaOla, wrote: “Nollywood actors declaring Tinubu is fixing Nigeria while millions of Nigerians are eating garri with no sugar and fuel is ₦1,200/litre. Is this ‘fixing’ or paid PR?”
Another user, @Dammy, described the rally as “fake support,” suggesting some entertainers were motivated by political relevance rather than national concerns such as inflation and kidnapping.
Another commenter, @CHILDwitGrace, said celebrities supporting the president were misleading Nigerians who are struggling. Others argued that public figures can support any political cause they choose and should not be criticized for it.
