5 family TV dramas you should watch

If there is one thing last year’s lockdown has taught us, it is that family relationships are the one thing we can count on in times of crisis. And the complexities of family dramas and relationships make for very good entertainment.

Here are 5 family TV dramas you can check out if that’s your thing…

1. Little Fires Everywhere
family dramas

First on our list is Little Fires Everywhere. The drama is set in the small neighbourhood of Shaker Heights and it follows two families from different racial and socioeconomic backgrounds. When their lives start to intertwine through the friendship of their children, secrets that threaten the relationships holding both families threaten to come to light.

Based on the book of the same name, Little Fires Everywhere explores the complexities of mother-daughter bonds, nature of art and identity against the socioeconomics of it all.

2. Dynasty

The life of the one per cent is very glamorous indeed. But that’s if you are looking only as far as the tabloids. This family drama flavoured with business deals, scandals and generational secrets explores the ups and downs and inner wars of the Carrington family. Dynasty is a good watch. It pays a lot of nods to its original that was created in the 80s. The host of colourful characters make it a binge-worthy series.

3. Ginny and Georgia

Georgia Miller has come into town with her children, Ginny and Austin, and promises that they would settle down here and not move again. However, Georgia’s past may not let them move forward that easy; skeletons come out of the cupboard, threatening her new aspirations and straining her relationship with Ginny.

4. Shameless

This adaptation from a British series of the same name examines how the addiction and neglect of a father affect his household. In Shameless, we see kids raising themselves and we understand just how deeply bad parenting can cause rot in the society at large.
