5 fun facts about Jemima Osunde
Nollywood actress Jemima Osunde turned 25 today and to celebrate her birthday, here are some facts to know about the young movie star.
1. She is a physiotherapist
Jemima Osunde studied physiotherapy at the University of Lagos and has worked in the intensive care unit for 3 months. Osunde graduated from the College of Medicine in 2019. A quick browse through her Instagram will show you pictures and videos of the actress in a lab coat; sharing her experience as a health worker.
2. Her parents are her biggest fans
Osunde describes her parents as her number one fans as they are very encouraging of her acting career. Unlike many Nigerian parents, Jemima’s parents love that she combines both acting and physiotherapy; instead of sticking to one “stable” career path.
She said in an interview back in 2015, “If I didn’t have the motivation and support I am getting from them, I would not have gotten this far with what I’m doing. My mum drives me to every audition, drops me on every set and picks me up. I never had to worry about transportation.”
3. She got her big break on MTV’s Shuga
The actress is perhaps most popular for playing Laila on the MTV web series Shuga. Osunde revealed that she got to hear about the role from her friend on WhatsApp and was surprised she even got it. In many interviews, she has described her character Laila as “naive” and a “love-struck puppy”, which she says is nothing like her in real life.
4. Jemima Osunde and Adesua Etomi are close friends
Jemima and Adesua seem to be pretty close and Adesua has accused Jemima of stealing food from her fridge and the two actresses often throw playful jabs at each other. You can catch a few of their antics and funny exchanges on social media.
