7 Things you Should Know about Mildred Okwo’s ‘La Femme Anjola’

Nollywood filmmaker, Mildred Okwo will release her much-anticipated film, La Femme Anjola in March. Earlier on Monday, February 8, 2021, the official trailer for the movie, a two minute, forty-one-second masterpiece was released.

  • La Femme Anjola is an African crime thriller, belongs to the noir genre of films. It follows the story of a young Lagos Investment Banker whose life is turned upside down; when he falls for a beautiful singer, married to a wealthy gangster.
  • The project has been on for Six Years: Work on the film started almost six years ago when the co-producer and director; Mildred Okwo held an audition that had many Nollywood stars in attendance in Lagos. However, the actual principal photography did not start until sometime in 2019. Okwo is known to be painstaking while when productions are concerned.
  • Setting: The intriguing thriller was shot on locations in Lagos, Nigeria, and Cape Town, South Africa.

  • Third Audrey Silva film: It is the third feature film to be produced by the Audrey Silva Company, a joint venture between Mildred Okwo and superstar, Rita Dominic. Productions from the company before now are The Meeting (2012) and Surulere (2016).
  • La Femme Anjola is a star-studded movie. It features Rita Dominic, Browny Igboegwu, Femi Jacobs, Nonso Bassey, and Kenyan, Mumbi Maina amongst others.
  • A New Rita Dominic: As with The Meeting, the first feature production from the stable of Audrey Silva company where superstar, Rita Dominic played an unusual comedic role. La Femme Anjola reveals new levels of versatility in the multiple award-winning actress. It promises to be one that film lovers will not forget in a hurry.
  • The crime-thriller was written by Tunde Babalola.
