The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has expressed deep concern over a disturbing video and voice note currently trending online, showing an actor being brutally assaulted by a producer and members of her crew on a film set.
This incident is linked to the recent altercation between actor Taye Arimoro and actress Peggy Ovire.

According to reports by eelive.ng, the altercation occurred when Arimoro attempted to leave the set after his contract time had elapsed, but was allegedly prevented from doing so by Ovire and her team. Arimoro claimed that his car was blocked, and he was assaulted, resulting in visible injuries to his gum and lips. However, Ovire disputed Arimoro’s account, alleging that the actor became aggressive and physically assaulted two crew members when they asked him to complete a few scenes.

CCTV footage of the incident has emerged, showing Ovire initiating a physical altercation with Arimoro.
In response to the incident, the AGN posted a press release emphasizing that “no actor should be subjected to physical assault, intimidation, or any form of abuse in the course of professional engagement.” The Guild strongly advises all practitioners within the motion picture industry to embrace lawful and civil means of conflict resolution rather than resorting to violence or self-help.

”Disputes arising on set or within production circles must be handled with decorum, respect, and through the appropriate professional channels,” the press release noted. The AGN’s National Task Force has already commenced a full investigation into the incident, and the Guild is calling on the Association of Movie Producers to urgently identify the producer involved and initiate appropriate disciplinary measures in line with their professional code of conduct.
