Veteran Nollywood actress Clarion Chukwurah has written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and poverty.
Chukwurah first commended the President for his pro-democracy legacy and his support for creating State Police. However, she noted that full operations may take one to two years. Rural areas especially need faster solutions right now.
The actress, painting a painful picture of the kidnapping crisis, stressed that only cowards kidnap children for money. Chukwurah lamented the case of kidnappers holding a two-year-old child in the forest for weeks. She painfully noted that the child is open to rain, poor nutrition, heat, and mosquitoes.

Chukwurah, therefore, called on the President to release part of the National Security Emergency Intervention Fund to empower community vigilantes. These groups, she stated, need the capacity to bear arms and defend their villages. She also wants armed security men in schools to protect children and teachers.

In addition, the letter links mass unemployment and poverty to rising crime, as average Nigerians living in hardship do not believe the government fully understands their struggles. Chukwurah appeals directly to President Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, asking them to replace indifference with compassion through urgent steps.
