American Music Star Slams Buhari over Ongoing #EndSARS Protest

American singer and songwriter, Trey Songz has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari over the ongoing #EndSARS protest in the country.

Recall that the president had on Friday, October 9, 2020, in a tweet disclosed that he had a meeting with the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to address the concerns of Nigeria to end police brutality in the country.

“I met again with the IGP tonight. Our determination to reform the police should never be in doubt. I am being briefed regularly on the reform efforts ongoing to end police brutality and unethical conduct, and ensure that the Police are fully accountable to the people,” Buhari wrote.

Responding to the president’s statement, Trey Songz echoed Nigerians’ perception of him, as he tweeted: “The people saying you full of shit fam.”

In the past few days, the Buhari-led government has received a series of backlashes from members of the public, for paying deaf-ears to the Nigerian citizenry’s concerns.

While Davido, Wizkid, amongst other Nigerian music stars have called for the end of extra-judicial killings, wanton arrests and dispossession of properties through physical assault and other intimidation tactics against Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a notorious department of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF); foreign artistes like Trey Songz, Drake, and Lil Baby, have added their voices to the struggle.
