As the glitz and glamour of the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA 2026) unfold in Lagos today, popular Nigerian actor, producer, and content creator Uzee Usman has humorously dropped his two cents about the event.
In a viral post shared today, Usman lamented the intense pressure that comes with the biggest night in African entertainment: “The Pressureeeeeeeeeee of AMVCAs is something else. The calls and messages have received since yesterday. Thank God say we don JAPA this period o or else where I get 1M, 2m to give tailor? All the best to all the nominees tonight.”
His light-hearted complaint perfectly reflects the high stakes of the red carpet where dashing outfits from top Nigerian tailors and designers often cost millions of naira. The cultural night gives a glimpse of Usman’s point.

The 12th AMVCA, organised by MultiChoice’s Africa Magic, is taking place on May 9, 2026, in Lagos. Nominees were announced on March 29, with public voting closing on April 26. Leading the pack are titles like “Gingerrr” and “The Herd” with nine nominations each alongside strong contenders such as “To Kill a Monkey” and “My Father’s Shadow”.
Usman, a respected figure known for trailblazing Northern representation in Nollywood, wished all nominees success as the industry celebrates excellence in film, TV, and digital content.
