Nigerian Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, has come under heavy backlash after fans took to social media to express their displeasure after the Afrobeats star’ concert at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu state turned into chaotic.
It would be recalled that Davido had earlier announced the return of his “5ive Tour” to Nigeria, with performances scheduled across several cities, including Akwa Ibom, Adamawa, Enugu, Ibadan, and Lagos.
The tour, which began in Akwa Ibom on October 26, continued in Adamawa on October 29 and made its third stop in Enugu on November 1.

It is expected to conclude with two more shows: one in Ibadan on November 9 and another in Lagos on December 25. However, the Enugu concert faced widespread criticism from attendees due to overcrowding, harassment, inadequate crowd control, and security lapses.
The concert which allegedly drew over 40,000 people, nearly double the venue’s capacity of 20,000, led to confusion and safety concerns, Displeased fans took to social media to share distressing accounts, alleging breaches at the gates, theft of valuables, and a lack of adequate security presence throughout the night

The security personnel did a terrible job. Touts entered. They used razor blades to tear bags. So does it mean if we go to a concert, our safety is not guaranteed? The number of girls who were robbed was a lot. Unfortunately, my phone was stolen.”

The event was supposed to start at 4 p.m., but Davido only arrived at 3 a.m. People were entering without tags. A guy was walking around me, looking for something tangible to take from me. I met another friend who was crying; her phone was stolen. Security had to carry me out because the crowd was too much.”

People would just be going in, trying to pass through the gates, and all of a sudden, there would be a huge crowd pushing everyone backwards. Everyone would be falling down. If you look forward, you’ll see the security using one very long cane flogging everyone in his line of sight, and they were literally tasering people. You’d just be there and hear a taser going off on somebody’s body multiple times.”
