Are You Ready for Kids? Why Marriage Isn’t the Ultimate Test for Motherhood

Lady speaks about readiness to have kids in marriage

A lady’s candid remarks about marriage, parenthood and emotional healing have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many agreeing that becoming a spouse does not automatically mean someone is ready to become a parent.

In a statement that has since gone viral, the lady argued that marriage should not be viewed as proof that a couple is prepared to raise children.

According to her, the emotional demands of parenting require far more than simply entering into a marital union.

She said: “I don’t think that marriage should be a sign that you’re ready for children. Yes, you can get married, but are you ready for children?”

She went on to suggest that many women struggle with motherhood because they are still dealing with emotional wounds passed down from their own upbringing.

However, in her view, unresolved childhood trauma can affect a person’s ability to provide the care and stability that children need.

She continued: “Many women are unfit to be a mother because they’re all ill from their own parents”.

The lady stressed that raising children requires qualities such as patience, kindness, gentleness and respect. She argued that these characteristics must first be cultivated within oneself before they can be extended to a child.

She added: “It takes a lot of gentleness, kindness and respect to raise a child. These are qualities you don’t have for yourself, not to talk of a little human.”
