Ayinla Omowura’s Biopic: Tunde Kelani Seeks Help

Nollywood filmmaker, Tunde Kelani has sought help regarding the filming and production of a movie that documents the life and times of late Àpàlà musician, Ayinla Yusuf, popularly known as Ayinla Omowura.

Eelive.ng had reported that forty years after the demise of Omowura, Kelani disclosed that the filming for the Àpàlà music icon’s biopic has kicked off with the crew, equipment, and cast already in the Abeokuta location base.

“The ideation or obsession which gives birth to this story lasted more than three years and refused to die despite twists and turns including the covid-19 pandemic.

“This is an important but unusual film by many standards,” Kelani wrote.

As the filming is ongoing at Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, Kelani however reached out to his fans and other persons who might be in the position to help, for an old coaster or a civilian bus.

According to him, the vehicle is a necessity in the movie for the late singer’s band.

“Making of AYINLA our special movie is happening BIG at Abẹ́òkúta – We need either the old Coaster or Civilian bus for the Ayinla Band. Kindly assist and support us,” he wrote.

Born on May 6, 1980, at Itoko, Abeokuta, Omowura passed away at the age of 47 after being stabbed to death on the head with a beer glass cup by his estranged manager, Bayewu, during a brawl at a beer parlour.

The Àpàlà music icon was at the peak of his meteoric rise to stardom when he met his untimely death.

However, during his lifetime, Omowura churned out several tracks to preach against bad leadership, fornication, and other ill acts in society.
