Ayra Starr becomes first female Nigerian musician to have multiple No. 1 songs in Nigeria

Nigerian musician, Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr has set a new record by becoming the first female Nigerian musician to have multiple No. 1 songs in Nigeria with her hit single, ‘Rush’.

“Rush” stands at No. 1 and was released under Mavin Records. It displaces last week’s number one hold, Asake who made history as the artiste with the most No. 1 entries in Nigeria.

This is Ayra Starr’s fifth top ten entry in Nigeria, making her have the most number of top ten songs for any female artiste in the country with Tiwa Savage coming close with 3 top ten songs and Tems with 2.

Rush’ has amassed 4.66 million streams and 40.3 million in radio reach. The song also has up to 1.73 million airplay impressions on TV.

“Rush” is the lead single off the deluxe version of the artiste’s debut album, 19 & Dangerous. The deluxe is due to arrive on the Friday, October 14, 2022.

Before now, Ayra’s Bloody Samaritan was the last no. 1 song released by a Nigerian female artiste.

19 & Dangerous’ also became only the fifth album to have multiple No. 1 entries in the country.

“Rush” is also the second top ten entry off the artiste’s debut album – joining Asake with 8 singles in the top ten list, Omah Lay with 3 and Joeboy and Rema with 2 each.
