Baba Ijesha granted bail

Baba Ijesha has been granted bail, The PUNCH has reported.

Since last month, the 48-year-old has been in police detention over the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl. Despite the protests and petitions to keep him behind bars, Baba Ijesha will soon leave prison. His lawyer Adesina Ogunlana told the newspaper on Monday that the court granted him bail on health ground.

“They granted Baba Ijesha bail about one hour ago. We are working to perfect the bail. The court granted him bail on health grounds. The police have not yet released him. They will release him from prison after his bail conditions have been met,” Mr Ogunlana was quoted as saying.

Among the bail conditions listed by the lawyer are two reliable sureties – one of whom must be a level 10 officer – a direct blood relation and N500,000 bail bond.
