Barry Jhay: 6 Things You Didn’t Know About the Singer

Nigerian afro-beat singer, Barry Jhay, has been under the spotlight since news of the death of his record label boss, Kashy Godson broke out.

Born, Babatunde Oyerinde Abiodun, Godson was alleged to have died after plunging down from his apartment’s balcony.

While the official cause of Godson‘s death remains a mystery, Barry Jhay was reported to have been arrested in connection to his death.

With the current buzz he is getting, it’s shocking that some music fans do not know who the singer is.

  1. Oluwakayode Junior Balogun, a.k.a Barry Jhay, is the son of late Fuji music king, Ayinde Barrister. He was born on February 13, 1993, in Ibadan where he hails from.
  2. Barry Jhay does not have a university education even though his father could afford it during his lifetime. According to the singer, all he ever knew and wanted to do was music.
  3. He has released over 16 songs including Aiye, Ashe She, Olodo, Normal Level, Go Down, Remember and Ori. In November 2020, he released his latest song titled Muje. He has collaborated with entertainers like CKay and DJ Consequence.
  4. The singer was previously signed to Kizz Daniel’s record label, Flyboy Inc.; but the deal ended with Barry not releasing any song. He claimed that the deal was illegal because the company was not registered at the time.
  5. In 2019, he beat singers, Crayon, Buju, and Oxlade to win the Rookie of The Year award at the Headies. He also won Best New Act of the Year category at the City People Music Award.
  6. On March 7, Barry Jhay got into a nasty fight with his now deceased record label boss; Kashy Godson and has remained the centre of attention.
