Basketmouth apologizes to AY Makun after 17-years feud

Basketmouth, the legendary Nigerian comedian, whose real name is Bright Okpocha, appears to be taking steps to mend fences with people he has offended, including AY Makun.

In a video posted on his Instagram account on Monday, October 2, 2023, Basketmouth offered his apologies to those he may have offended in one way or another over the years.

He specifically extended an apology to fellow comedian AY Makun and requested forgiveness.

Additionally, Basketmouth stated that he has forgiven AY Makun for any transgressions towards him.

He said,

“To my guy AY I don’t know if my apology is still valid right now but if it is please forgive me for whatever I have done or said in the past that affected you in any way please forgive me. And I want you to know that I have forgiven you for whatever you did or said knowingly or unknowingly, it’s gone and I just want us to live in peace and harmony.”

Basketmouth seems prepared to move past past conflicts. He has issued a blanket apology to individuals he may have offended over the years.

He acknowledged that he neither accepts nor denies any allegations but is extending his apologies as a gesture of goodwill.

“Now to all the people in the industry and beyond that I have offended over time knowingly or unknowingly. I say this to you right now from the bottom of my heart. I am genuinely sorry please forgive me and to the people who would have accused me of doing things that affected their career in one way or the other. I’m not going to accept or deny these allegations. God knows the truth but regardless please forgive me I beg you from the bottom of my heart.” he added.

The longstanding feud between Basketmouth and AY appears to have originated over a financial dispute, with AY mentioning that it began over ₦30,000.

Despite Basketmouth’s recent apology, AY has not yet responded, and in a previous interview, he expressed his willingness to go to his grave without reconciling with Basketmouth due to past unsuccessful attempts at reconciliation.
