Kola Omotoso, the Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate has come under intense scrutiny on social media following a recent private conversation with fellow contestant, Dede.
The controversy began after a short clip of the discussion surfaced online. In the video, Dede was heard telling Kola to focus on more personal topics. The clip, which quickly spread across different social media platforms, sparked debates and criticism from viewers.
While many viewers saw the interaction as harmless, a section of fans, particularly supporters of Dede, accused Kola of “crossing lines” and being too forward in his approach towards her. The backlash gained momentum on X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and other platforms, with users questioning his intentions inside the house.

The online conversation soon escalated, with several negative labels directed at Kola. According to his team, what began as mild name-calling such as “mumu” and “simp” has now turned into more damaging and dangerous accusations, including being called a “rapist,” “predator,” and “abuser.”
In response to the growing criticism, Kola’s management released a lengthy statement on his official X account. The statement strongly condemned the accusations, describing them as “dangerous and unfounded labels” that could have serious consequences on his life, career, and reputation outside the Big Brother Naija show.
The team insisted that Kola’s conduct since entering the house has been respectful, especially towards women. They noted that he has always exercised restraint and self-control, even during Thursday and Saturday night parties, where housemates often engage in close dancing and playful interactions.
Part of the statement reads, “Kola has consistently carried himself in the Big Brother Naija house with dignity, respect, and kindness towards everyone, especially the women. From the very beginning, he has shown restraint and self-control, keeping his hands to himself and never once crossing a boundary set by anyone, male or female.”
The team further expressed disappointment that a light-hearted and honest conversation between Kola and Dede was being misinterpreted and used to tarnish his image. They described the backlash as a deliberate attempt to damage his reputation while also stripping both housemates of their dignity.
They warned that such defamatory remarks carry long-term consequences and should not be taken lightly. According to them, false narratives spread online could ruin lives and future opportunities beyond the reality show.
The statement added, “It is deeply disheartening to see a simple, honest conversation he had with a fellow housemate twisted out of context to paint him as something he is not. This attempt to trap him and strip both parties of their dignity is dead on arrival. We remind the public that labels such as these carry weight far beyond this show. They can ruin lives, careers, and futures. We will not sit back and allow his name to be tarnished by reckless and defamatory statements. Any further defamatory tweets or posts will be met with immediate legal action.”
The management concluded by urging fans and the public to avoid spreading unverified claims about Kola and to allow the housemates to focus on the game.
