Venita Akpofure, a former BBNaija All Stars housemate, has issued an apology to the Tiv tribe for her derogatory comment about their culture.

During her time on the show, Akpofure made a statement that drew criticism:

“In the Tiv tribe, they give their wives to their guests.”

Akpofure, along with Soma and Angel, was eventually evicted from the show.

In a recent interview with Hero Daniels, she clarified that her comment about the Tiv people was misconstrued..

She emphasized that her daughters are Tiv, and she would never make derogatory comments about their tribe.

Akpofure recognized the “carelessness” of her statement and extended her apologies to those it offended.

Her statement reflects a desire to make amends and foster understanding, acknowledging the importance of cultural sensitivity and respect.

“The statement I made about Tiv people got twisted a bit. My daughters are Tiv. There is no way I will be trying to make any malicious or slanderous comment towards their people,” she said.

“Actually, in my season we did a whole play around the Tor Tiv coronation which I participated in and was super excited about.

“So, you know, sometimes you will say something, maybe it is a little bit careless. And I think it got misconstrued. And for those offended by it, I am regretful about that.”
