Beverly Naya Advises the Youth to Resist Societal Pressure
Nigerian actress, Beverly Ifunaya Bassey aka Beverly Naya has advised Nigerians to always do things when they are ready, and avoid being miserable all in the name of keeping up with certain societal obligations.
Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, Naya stated that people especially women have become miserable all in an effort all in the name of pleasing the society.
The actress mentioned this while she was building her points on the reason why the society should put less pressure on women to get married, especially in this part of the world.
“I believe that pressure on women should reduce. That’s how people –men and women- end up in wrong marriages. I feel it is important to do things when one is ready,” she said.
She advised that Nigerian youth should ensure they are with the right person. And that they should not just marry someone out of convenience or under pressure.
“Marry someone because you genuinely love the person, and want to spend ‘forever’ with that person,” she advised.
Beverly Naya also maintained that marriage is only an expectation if one allows it to be. “I don’t do things I shouldn’t be doing. It’s easy when one is living one’s life and stays away from certain things,” she said.
