Beyoncé Declines Offer to Perform at the Grammy Awards

Beyoncé has declined to perform at the 63rd annual Grammy Awards ceremony is going down this weekend. Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch and Doja Cat will be taking the stage to perform their biggest hits. But the Recording Academy was unsuccessful in booking the Black Parade star.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Beyoncé, who got 9 Grammy nominations, was on the list of desired performances. Unfortunately, she declined the offer. “It’s unfortunate because she’s such a big part of the Recording Academy,” said Recording Academy Interim Chief Executive Harvey Mason. “We absolutely wish we had her onstage.”

It is unclear why the Black Is King star had no interest in performing or whether she will show up to music’s biggest night. However, if she doesn’t attend, the Drunk in Love vocalist probably won’t be the only one missing from the audience.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd — who was snubbed from any Grammy nods this year — expressed his sentiments that the award show was “corrupt”. He announced his plans to boycott the event and stop submitting his music to the Recording Academy. “Because of the secret committees, I will no longer allow my label to submit my music to the Grammys,” he said.

The news that Beyoncé rejected an offer to perform at the Grammys comes days after the showrunners added an additional act to the roster of artists performing on Sunday, March 14.

Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, who took to Twitter in hopes to secure a slot for their debut performance as Silk Sonic; will be blessing the Grammys stage, most likely with the live rendition of their recently-released hit, Leave the Door Open.
