Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has explained why he has been devoting his attention to Osun State despite recently releasing a new album.
The 33-year-old singer has been actively supporting his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the upcoming election, even engaging critics who have questioned his involvement in the political campaign.
Speaking at a recent rally in Osun State, Davido explained that his decision to put his music activities aside temporarily was driven by his concern for the people of the state.
He noted that, although he had just released his album, he felt the need to personally visit Osun and understand what was happening on the ground.
He said: “I just dropped my album, but I had to come down and focus on Osun State so I could see the situation myself because I genuinely care about my people.”

However, Davido’s involvement in the campaign followed his appointment as Youth Mobilisation for the campaign council supporting Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
The singer had earlier expressed his enthusiasm about taking on the role, saying he was ready to contribute to what he described as a successful campaign for his uncle.
Governor Adeleke also welcomed Davido into the campaign, highlighting the singer’s popularity and influence among young Nigerians.
According to the governor, Davido brings the energy, influence and passion required to connect with and mobilise the state’s large youth population.
The singer’s active participation has since added more star power to the governor’s campaign as he combines his music career with his support for his family and the people of Osun.
