Big Sean Talks Losing Naya Rivera

American rapper, Big Sean, has opened up about the loss of Glee actress and ex-girlfriend, Naya Rivera.

In a recent, very emotional interview with New York Magazine, the rapper, was asked if he has any regrets about his hit song IDFWU to which he replied that he wouldn’t have released the song if he knew that Rivera was going to die tragically.

The rapper who released IDFWU (an acronym for ‘I Don’t F*** With You’) immediately after his messy breakup with the actress in 2014 left fans speculating that the infamous song was a diss to the actress due to the lyrics and timing of the song.

But now, Big Sean; born Sean Michael Leonard Anderson explained that the song was not in any way to diss Rivera. He added that the actress liked the song and it was hurtful to have that [song] associated with her as she has had a great impact on people and has done so many great things in her life and career.

“That’s a tough question to answer because I’m still processing a lot of that. I don’t feel comfortable talking about it because I want to respect her,” he said.

“She’s made such an impact on people, and she’s done so many great things in her life and her career that it was hurtful to even have that [song] be associated with her. That song wasn’t a diss to her.

“She knew about it, and she liked it. We had a breakup that was very public; and we were young and we forgave each other and moved on from that. If I would have known something this tragic would have happened, I would have never made the song.”

Timeline of Rivera’s relationship

Rivera and Big Sean dated for six months before getting engaged in October 2013. In April 2014, the pair decided to call off their wedding.

Three months after Rivera split from Big Sean she got married to actor Ryan Dorsey; on the same date she and the rapper had picked out as their wedding day.

Rivera and Dorsey split for good when they finalised their divorce in 2018 and they have a four-year-old son, Jorsey together.

The actress accidentally drowned in Lake Piru in California. Her body was found four days after she went missing during a boat trip with her son.
