Boomplay names Asake most streamed artist in 2023
According to Boomplay’s 2023 Recap List, Asake is the Most Streamed Artist of the Year, with his album “Mr. Money With the Vibe” ranking second behind Davido’s “Timeless.”
Asake has had unprecedented commercial success since breaking into the mainstream in 2022 with his hit single Omo Ope.
He released his highly successful sophomore album Work of Art in 2023, which included the hit singles 2:30, Amapiano, which was nominated for Best African Performance at the 2024 Grammys, and Lonely At The Top.
Asake is the most streamed Nigerian artist in the Boomplay 2023 recap.
He is ranked first on the list, which also includes Street Pop sensation Seyi Vibez and megastar Davido.
Ayra Starr, the global singing sensation, is also the most streamed female artist in Nigeria, according to Boomplay data. Tiwa Savage, the Afrobeats superstar, and Mercy Chinwo, the Gospel music star, are also on the list.
Shallipopi, a 2023 breakout star, tops the Most Streamed Rising Artist list, which also includes hip-hop stars ODUMODUBLVCK and Spyro.
Omah Lay’s Soso is Nigeria’s most streamed song. Adekunle Gold’s Party No Dey Stop is also on the list.
