Brymo speaks on scandal with Tuface

Nigerian singer/songwriter Olawale Olofooro, popularly known as Brymo, has adviced that Tuface goes on to court regarding the claims he made about fellow singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface.

Brymo had claimed Tuface accused him of sleeping with his wife, Annie Idibia. He stated this in a series of tweets on Twitter. Brymo’s tweets read in part,

“In the very recent past, a man falsely accused me of sleeping with his wife. I’ve waited in angst, and the words were never taken back still. Efforts were consistently made to prove I did it still and my soul has known no lasting peace ever since.”

He had continued,

“Weeks later,  I was lured into being hosted by a friend I had just met. After spending days getting high and philandering, I was asked if I would love to be a part of an organisation. Of which I responded “well, I might want to, except I do not subscribe to being battered. Minutes later, my host said he was walking down to another guest house, where some guy has messed up and must be punished.. told me to come but didn’t wait for me. Well, I was the guy it turned out. Later I found out from an undisclosed source that Mr Idibia was responsible for the attack. Yet I couldn’t decide if it was for supposedly bedding his Mrs or for claiming the spot of the greatest artiste alive.”

In response to the accusation, Tuface requested an apology on social media or face a N1bn suit in court, through his lawyers. The court papers read,

“We are solicitors to Mr Innocent (2baba), hereinafter referred to as “our client” and on whose instruction we write. Your publication on Twitter that our client ‘falsely accused you of sleeping with his wife’. And that our client ‘was responsible for the attack’ on your person, which ‘was for supposedly bedding his Mrs or for claiming the spot of the greatest artiste alive’. Among other similar false allegations have been brought to our client’s notice. The baseless and false accusation has caused unspeakable distress to our client and his family.@

It added,

“Our client will give you the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps you were inspired to spew such nonsense after one of such self-confessed episodes of ‘spending days getting high and philandering.’. In which case, we demand that, within 48 hours of receipt of this letter, you withdraw your statements. And publish on your entire social media accounts an unreserved apology to our client and his wife. Should you fail or refuse to meet our demands, we shall perfect our client’s instructions and pursue redress by seeking no less than N1bn in damages against you in court.”

The 35 year old songwriter has responded using his Twitter handle, saying ,

“I’ll advise they go on to the court, as I insist on all my tweets asserted, they are not nonsense.”
