Burna Boy Joins List of Artistes to Perform At Iconic Apollo Theatre
Some months ago, it was announced that Burna Boy was one of the artists lined up to perform at Coachella 2019 but that caused an uproar when the music star called out the show’s organizers for printing his name on their posters in small print. He stated that he’s an “African Giant” and some ‘respeck’ better be put on his name.
This gave rise to the name of his 2019 tour – “African Giant”. With the city lineup Burna Boy has shared, the tour promises to be an exciting one.
It promises to be a big year for the artiste as in addition to performing at Coachella, he will be headlining a concert on the 5th of April at the iconic Apollo Theatre in New York City.
Performing at the Apollo Theatre will put Burna Boy on the impressive list of artists who have also performed there; people like Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Michael Jackson, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Elton John, Smokey Robinson, Gladys Knight, The Pips, The Jacksons, Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, D’Angelo and Prince.
