Burna Boy delivers on his promise to his parents as he receives his Grammy Plaque

Earlier today, Grammy award-winning artiste, Damini Ogulu also known as Burna Boy finally received his Grammy award.

The Port Harcourt-born star was the winner of the ‘Best Global Music Album’ category at the 2020 GRAMMY Awards ceremony.

The kilometre crooner took to his Instagram account to share images of himself with the plaque. He was also accompanied by long-time friend and producer, Leriq in the studio.

One interesting bit of information, Burna confirmed that himself and his siblings have delivered on the promises they all made to their parents.

In the caption that accompanied the images, he wrote,

“They asked my sisters for stellar degrees; one got a first-class in Finance, the other got a Distinction in Engineering. They asked me for a Grammy, and here we are. I am a product of sacrifice! Thank God and thank you all again!”

‘Twice As Tall’ was executive-produced by music mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. The album also boasts features from Chris Martin, Naughty by Nature, Stormzy, Youssou N’dour, and Sauti Sol.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Burna Boy had made African history. He became the first African artist to have at least three albums streamed 100 million times each on Spotify. His last three albums, African Giant, Outside, and Twice As Tall, each received the 100-million mark appreciation from listeners.

The album Outside was released back in January 2018, while Grammy-nominated African Giant dropped in July 2019, and the Grammy-winning Twice As Tall was released in August 2020.

The African Giant is also currently one of the nominees for the Best International Act category at the BET Awards 2021. Good luck to Burna Boy!
