American rapper Cardi B has publicly apologised to fellow rapper Latto in a lengthy statement, addressing a years-long controversy stemming from a leaked phone conversation between them.
In the message shared on social media, Cardi B acknowledged Latto’s feelings and explained why she chose to apologise publicly.
According to the Grammy-winning rapper, the fallout became a public matter after details of their private conversation surfaced online.
Cardi B admitted that the comments she made during the heated exchange were disrespectful and said she never intended to hurt Latto. She clarified that there was a difference between what she said and what she actually meant, adding that emotions got the better of her during the conversation.

The rapper also revealed that she was eight months pregnant, had recently released an album, and was dealing with overwhelming pressure when the call was leaked. While noting that these circumstances do not excuse her remarks, Cardi said they provide context for her state of mind at the time.
She further disclosed that throughout 2025 and 2026, she made several attempts to personally reach out to Latto through her manager, sister, and direct messages in an effort to take responsibility and mend their relationship.
Cardi concluded by emphasising that she has always had love and respect for Latto, but acknowledged that the two artists had different ideas about how to resolve the issue, with Latto reportedly choosing to address it through her music.
