CDQ Denies Possession of Illegal Substances

Nigerian rapper, Sodiq Yusuf, also known CDQ, has expressly denied the  possession of any illegal substance when personnel of the NDLEA stormed his Lekki residence.

Eelive.ng had earlier reported that the rapper was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Wednesday over alleged possession of cannabis.

In a statement released on Friday by CDQ through his Instagram page, CDQ stated that he had never been in possession of any illegal substance whatsoever.

The rapper further instructed his legal counsel to follow the matter to logical end.

He said, “Given the recent allegations made against me bothering on possession of drugs and other related matters, I wish to state in very clear terms that I have never been in possession of any illegal substance in whatsoever form, neither have I ever had any cause to process, traffic, sell or use any illegal substance.

“I am not unmindful of the fact that the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is statutorily empowered to enforce laws against the general utilization of prohibited drugs and their activities should be done within the ambit of the law. However, my experience with the officers of the NDLEA on the 14th day of April 2021, right from the moment I was purportedly arrested from my house to the point and manner with which my statements were taken, proved otherwise.

He added, “Even though I reserve the right to respond to various falsehoods against me as published on several blogs, news sites, etc, that I was arrested with a cannabis variant, I urge the entire public to please note that I was not found with any form/variant of any illegal substance on the day I was purportedly arrested at my Lekki residence.

“There was no conclusive report by the NDLEA on any wrongdoing, neither have I been convicted by any court of competent jurisdiction concerning the foregoing.

“Again, I do not engage myself with any illegal substance for any reason(s) whatsoever. I am committed to doing my very best as a professional recording artiste and ensuring that I am a law-abiding citizen of this country.”
