Coronavirus: Desmond Elliot Calls For Total Lockdown In Lagos

Nollywood actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot has called for a total lockdown in Lagos, which he said will help curtail the spread of the dreaded coronavirus.

According to Elliot, not everyone is complying with the ongoing lockdown in the state so far, and it should be totally complied with by all means.

While speaking on the floor of Lagos House of Assembly on Thursday, April 23, 2020, the lawmaker who’s representing Surulere Constituency, said everyone must comply with staying at home for the state to start recording significant success in its fight against the infectious disease.

Elliot further charged every ministry in the state to not leave the coronavirus fight to the health ministry alone, saying it is everyone’s responsibility to curtail the spread and eventually eradicate it in the country.

He said, “I have seen good work across all levels so far in Lagos. And the reason why you can see the smart move deployed by the state government is the preparation done ahead of the index case.

“This coronavirus is here already, and it came fully. I was part of those who went to some isolation centres in the state, and what I saw during our visit was scary. Every ministry must now put their hands on deck.”

Elliot also sought for better welfare of medical practitioners in the state, as he said, “these people need to be better taken care of. Their welfare matters and we need to take it seriously.”

As the lawmaker suggested, do you think a total lockdown will curtail the coronavirus spread?
