The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday ordered that Linus Williams Ifejirika, a cryptocurrency entrepreneur known as Blord, be held at Kuje Correctional Centre.

Blord faces charges of criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and unauthorised use of the identity of Martins Vincent Otse, the activist known as VeryDarkMan.

The case began after VeryDarkMan accused Blord of using his image in an advertisement without permission.

He printed a billboard with my face on it and claimed I was his ambassador without my permission. He also printed different fliers with my face on them, claiming we agreed. All of these are false.”

“We bundled d guy from Awka straight to Abuja… we shall also avail him free food, free medicare, free security… if u play, u learn d hard way,” he wrote on social media.

Reacting to the detention, activist Omoyele Sowore condemned the celebration of the incarceration.

He added that he would work to ensure the case is discontinued and Blord is released.

“No one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the color of law,” Sowore wrote on X.

“Sending Blord to prison is not a victory for legal brilliance or advocacy. Rather, it risks emboldening a system of oppression that weaponises the law against citizens.”
