Crayon Reveals Emotional Story of Mum’s 21-Year Struggle Selling Fruits

Nigerian singer Crayon, whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu, has shared a deeply emotional account of his early success and the sacrifices made by his late mother.

Crayon opened up during a recent livestream with popular content creator Carter Efe, where he reflected on the moment he received his first salary after signing to Marvin record label.

According to Crayon, his immediate thought was to support his mother, who had spent over two decades working tirelessly as a fruit seller in Iyana Iba, Lagos.

When I received my first salary from Mavin Records, I immediately called my mum. I sent her money and begged her to leave Iyana Iba. She had been selling fruits for 21 long years before she passed away,” he said.

Crayon, who rose to prominence under the mentorship of Don Jazzy, has continued to establish himself as one of the promising voices in Nigeria’s music scene.

Crayon’s journey reflects the realities of many young artiste who strive to uplift their families through success in the entertainment industry.
