Davido at 10: Twitter celebrates with customised emoji
David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido is celebrating his 10th year in the music industry this month. The superstar artiste and performer has a lot to celebrate with many awards and hits under his belt. The 28-year-old DMW record label owner is getting celebrated by social media platform, Twitter.
Joining his fans and well-wishers on the bird app, the platform has graced the occasion with specific emojis. The emoji comes up once you use the hashtag #DavidoAt10 or #echoke. Fans have been using it to show their support.
The customised emojis have gotten traction lately and Twitter Ng is buzzing with congratulatory messages. Davido is being praised and acknowledged for his hard work and consistency.
However, some of his fans have highlighted that he is not getting any attention from his colleagues over the milestone. Davido responds agreeing with one of the tweets with, “Nah Today ? Lol”. He also thanks Naeto C for all his support.
Davido featured Naeto C in his first track that was released in May 2011. The song Back When brought the singer into the limelight and he had gathered momentum since. He finally gained proper recognition the following year when he released Dami Duro. The song became the second song off his debut album Omo Baba Olowo where his nickname OBO was coined.
Davido is ten years in the game
Adeleke has since had many hits under his belt amidst owning his own record label. He has had many great collaborations and features with both Nigerian and international acts. The OBO, as he is fondly called has also won many awards and garnered recognition worldwide.
He won MTV Africa Music Award for Best Male two years consecutively in 2014 and 2015. In 2014 and 2018, he also won the BET Award for best international act: Africa. Likewise in 2017, he won MTV Europe Music Award for Best African Act in 2017 and Headies Award Artiste of the year in 2018.
Davido also has 4 albums and Extended Playlists (EPs) to his name. His second album Son of Mercy was released in 2016, A Good Time released in 2019, and 2020’s A Better Time. Songs like, if, Assurance, Aiye, Fall, 1 Milli, and Blow My Mind featuring American superstar, Chris Brown have gained massive attention home and abroad.
